New England Chamber Players (NECP) presents our core members Thomas Weston, clarinet, Izumi Sakamoto, oboe, and Rachel Juszczak, bassoon in ensembles comprised primarily of strings. These pieces showcase the unique sonic profiles of the woodwind instruments against the homogeneous blend of a string ensemble. Carefully selected to showcase each instrument and player, the works vary from the classical beauty of Mozart’s Oboe Quartet K. 370, through adventurous Quartet for bassoon and strings, culminating with the unique Swedish-Finnish/French sensibility of Crusell’s C min Clarinet Quartet No.2 Op.4.
